Certified ballistic-resistant security glazing assembly installed by HG Walls
Ballistic-resistant glazing must be selected and installed as a complete tested assembly.

Technical Description

Ballistic-resistant glazing is a specialised security assembly engineered and laboratory-tested to resist defined ballistic threat levels. It typically combines multiple layers of glass, polymers and/or polycarbonate and must be installed with framing and anchorage capable of supporting the tested protective performance.

HG Walls is based in Chennai and provides ballistic-resistant security glazing for suitable projects across Tamil Nadu, South India and other locations in India, subject to project scope, programme, logistics and commercial feasibility.

System Composition & Configuration

  • Certified multi-layer ballistic glazing selected for the specified threat classification.
  • Compatible ballistic-rated frame, glazing pocket, cover/edge engagement and retention system.
  • Structural anchors, support steel/aluminium and perimeter interfaces designed for the opening/substrate.
  • Anti-spall configuration, protective films/interlayers or additional security components where required by the certified system.

Engineering & Performance Considerations

No generic thickness is suitable for every threat. Selection must be based on projectile/ammunition type, impact velocity, number and spacing of impacts, spall requirement, test standard, panel dimensions, support condition and exact manufacturer-tested construction. The frame and anchorage are part of the security system; installing certified glass in an untested weak frame can invalidate the intended protection. Edge cover, glass bite, support blocks, anchor spacing and substrate capacity should follow the approved specialist detail. Product traceability, certificate/test-report identification and handling of heavy laminated units should be planned before procurement.

Key Design Inputs

  • Specified ballistic threat/test classification, spall requirement, panel size and certified make-up.
  • Certified frame/glazing-pocket system, edge cover, glass bite, support blocks and anchor design.
  • Opening substrate, surrounding wall continuity, access/maintenance and heavy-glass lifting strategy.

HG Walls Scope / Execution Controls

HG Walls can coordinate with approved specialist manufacturers for certified product selection, opening survey, glass/frame details, supporting structure and anchors, shop drawings, supply, lifting/handling, installation, perimeter interfaces and handover documentation. Final supplied configuration should be traceable to the applicable manufacturer certificate/test report.

QA / Site Acceptance Checks

  • Verify exact manufacturer certificate/test report, product label/traceability and supplied make-up.
  • Check frame/anchor installation against the approved certified or engineered detail; avoid unapproved substitutions.
  • Inspect glass edges, support blocks, retention members, perimeter interfaces and handover documentation.

Typical Applications

Banks, cash handling areas, control rooms, security cabins, high-security facilities and project-specific protective glazing.

Technical Note

Use “ballistic-resistant” or “bullet-resistant” only for a tested assembly meeting the specified threat classification. Avoid the absolute term “bulletproof glass”. Actual protection depends on the certified glazing make-up, panel size, framing, edge engagement, anchorage, installation and applicable test standard.
